Hi guys, sadly I'm selling my 83 gti.
It has no current wof and reg is on hold. It will need a small bit of work on rust around the boot and I dont have the space and time to do this myself (despite the good intentions). Also, there is paint discolouring on the panel around the fuel cap and a little tlc needed inside inside.

The car drives very well, starts first pop each time, tyres, brakes, cd player-remote all good nick. it is a nz new.

Im in Panmure Auckland.
this is the only pic i have at the moment. i will try and get better photos tomorrow - esp of discolouration & rust patch.

im offering it to you guys before putting it on trademe

cheers david

What wheels are those. Looks like a good honest car. Can you post the rest of the details, milage, engine size, any mods, etc etc.

I'd love to have room and money to buy a little project like this! Being '83 wouldn't it be an 1800?

What did it fail on yesterdays wof check?

Cheers

thehydra

wof - took it to vtnz for a thorough checkup. the main problem was rust under the boot lid and around the tyre well. the other notes were a small bulge in front brake hose and a crack on the R/R tail lens.

A pillar trims came out in 1982 while the EG was still in production.

I guess we will have to have a little train-spotter's "agree to disagree" on that point, because I had never heard or read of them prior to the 1800cc.  Maybe in markets other than the UK they were around earlier?  I know Canada got them, although USA never did, so maybe they had them earlier.

Irrespective, there seems no doubt that this car is MY82 at latest.

No answer re head-lining colour?

Matts (nordschleife)  '82 1.6 GTI has them, Dads '81 GTI hasnt, an '82 1.6 GTI parts car we had also had the caps.

Also, if we are going to be train-spotter's, I have noticed that it seems only the '81 GTI had the red stripe around the dash.

The white GTI for sale will have a black headlining.

My 82 1.6gti haad the pillar caps but maybe they are aftermarket or off a wreck.
The end is nigh, but the end of what is the question?

apparently, of all the various aftermarket spoilers etc that were made for the mk1, the A-pillar "deflectors" were the one part that gave any real benefit in the wind-tunnel.

they aren't easy to find, and get quite high prices now. I think they were only an oem part?

according to my recent etka they are still available new, at around 20.00 Euro each, and were also on diesels, some jettas, and on the german "formal-e" economy version golf
