Do they still do the LM start ? the run across the track to your car...I like that.

What i mean... i always pictured le mans as fully blown race cars with stupidly oversized engines.. etc.. i didnt realise you could compete in diesels etc??

Yep, traditional running start was cool.? Unfortunately they stopped doing it in the late 60s/early 70s for safety reasons (I think 1969 was the last year).

There was one driver (I forget who), who used to walk across to his car.? He believed the time you gained by running was academic over a 24 hour race and so it wasn't worth the effort running!? :laugh:

There was a diesel Bora variant(wagon) racing in Europe - but i cant remember which tracks or series ??? 8)
