Yeah, I'm looking at that one, but my concern is that it's only done 2000km in the last 8 years... So pretty much been in storage. I can see the issues being firstly the cost of the recommisioning service of all fluids, filters, cam belt and tensioner, maybe waterpump, brakes check etc... Then when it starts being used again regularly that all sorts of things start going wrong... And at $6k it's already on the upper end.

Let alone a couple of rust spots that need attention before they get worse, there's 2 panels worth of repainting just there!

What are your thoughts about this 'recommisioning' and what would need doing before driving it back up to Auckland? Or am I just being paranoid?

Cheers

Seems normal for italian car ownership. The pay off is everytime you drive it though.

When you say $6k is the upper end, do you mean of your budget or what you think the car is worth?

If you're doing the work yourself it won't be too expensive to sort that stuff out, even if it does need all of it doing.  My Abarth had done 2000km over the last 4 years... I just did >500kms in it last weekend, it didn't need anything more than a new cambelt and fresh petrol

Was hoping to see the first black one but missed a chance to view....the other one on the other hand.... know it well. Very nice example and very fussy owner. Was resprayed 6 or so years ago in a stilo black colour. Pm me stafford if you like i have the owners details and you could deal with directly.

That demister on thee front screen would drive me nuts I think.
I'm getting some do my fiat up feelings stirring.... But that doesn't necessarily mean that much.
I have finished some other jobs tho so it must be getting close.
May sell the GTI this weekend so will be keen then.

Get stuck in Jem!

I don't know whether you'd even notice that demister that much when you're racing?
