Nope, The car in this photo is now on another plate "EZW76" the Reflex Silver R32 with the plate "MI R32" currently only got it a few years ago.

$3300 plus fees yesterday for a severely munted Jap-import black 5-door Mk4 R32 on Manheim salvage auction

vin: WVWZZZ1JZ4D008946
rego: LJJ872

Will need a rear quarter, rear suspension and somebody prepared to certify the repair. Roof appears to be folded too, so would not normally have any outcome other than being broken for parts

This link might stay live for a day or 2 but Manheim usually take them down quickly:

https://www.manheim.co.nz/damaged-vehicles/Item/ItemUnavailable?itemID=000000000006024338

(I have pics here. If anybody wants to see them PM me, but as usual the forum upload folder is full)

Seemed a lot of money to pay for a body kit, wheels, seats and a few bits of drivetrain that could be had from a TT or VR6. The numbers barely stack up to scrap it and make even a miniscule profit

Am I missing something here - what is a Jappo of now tarnished provenance actually worth?

for context:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2004-VW-GOLF-R32-3-2-V6-4MOTION-5-DOORS/184294641849

and then THIS which just seems a joke?

Glad to hear it's not just me saw it that way

There were two of them going hard-out online bidding against each other

It reminded me of watching idiots bidding madly on a roll of used garden hose at a chattels auction

imo $1000 car max to buy as a breaker - most of any return would be in the seats alloys and bumpers

Maybe they plan to do a bit of chop-shop vin fraud and build it into another shell; but if they do that then the NZTA history is always going to show it was written off and never repaired

Engine and gearbox should also be worth "some" money, not just cosmetics.

engine worth next to nothing (Mk4 evidently a forged crank otherwise no different to a Mk5?). Plenty of Mk5 R32 engines going begging
