Car's now at the Auto-electrician, lots of small things to get fixed up before  new years travelling (ie; the in-laws... scary stuff) next will be visiting Novus for the stone chip which is spreading  :-[

All this cash is coming out of my paint jar people!

Any alternatives to novus for windscreen repair?

Update - Taillights

Car's rear lights now all working how they should be, best part - free this time.
They essentially took the back lights off, cleaned up the terminals for the sake of doing it before sourcing the problem.

And it came right  ;D next expense still Novus in the next few days.
---

Update - Windscreen

windscreen repaired $80 fro novus for 4 chips (one which had spread into several cracks)

Front grill is no longer held in place with cable ties, thanks for the screws josh.

-Fix or Improve the interior, one of the great things about the Vask meet I recently attended was the wealth of Golfs in the Wellington region, there must've been a every shape GTi , minus the mark 1 there - a great chance to check out everyone elses interiors, a big plan is to swap out my seats for something more comfortable anyway, remembering this is a two door which will soon have a car seat in and out of the back, if I can find a good set of mark 2 seats (in reality I only really need the drivers) ill take that option - opinions please Wink

o.k Im now looking into pulling the original drivers seat apart and figuring out why it seems to like a sleeping position, fingers crossed a bit of D.I.Y head scratching can get it fixed, then the Jetta drivers seat will be cut up and turned into patch work (considering un-stitching and turning the patterns inside out to make one good seat?) could save me alot of money?

as both drivers seats in my possession currently have all the usual wear and tear of 20 years worth of good use.

Next two things im looking into.

*flushing the radiator, my reservoir is looking similar to an open sewer, the coolent has turned brown and is leaving floaties bobbing around.

*A new reservoir cap, I currently have 3, and all have very corroded rubber on the inside - which is leading to the reservoir dropping water - whenever I turn the engine off after a decent enough run to get it up to heat.

Where about's did you get it from?

I've solved my pressure problem for the short term, but pulling the rubber ring out and flipping it over, of course since there's a huge groove cut into the opposite side this won't last forever and a replacement is needed  ;)

Also, Radiator was flushed today, nice green coloured coolant now, no more floaties, one less thing to work on.

Next up i'll swap the oil/ oil filter, then the belts need a check up, get her all serviced while I'm ahead  ;D, I beleive a timing belt is out? when I turn the car over there is a ticking coming from the engine, until its been reved/ warmed up... something interesting to look into

quick video of the car all cleaned up, and the damaged drivers seat (out of a jetta) to give you all an idea of what im looking into repairing/ replacing

Edit
for some reason theres no sound... will shoot all future video with the missuses camera  :D

Did you see in the spotted thread that 3x members (myself included) saw you at Pukehina Beach?

We were in the really rangi looking old Range Rover, leaving the beach on new years day as you were driving down the road.
