however window wipers, highbeams not working (which has lead me to beleive I may have to pull the steering wheel off) and most of the dash cluster isnt working (demist, heater etc)

When the heater fan and half the electrics don,t go. The most common cause is the ignition switch. There are 2 circuits when the key is on the on position.
Not sure about the high beam. Good luck with the interview

Sorry for the lack of update's as of late, my daughter has been in and out of hospital so my project has been put on quite a large hiatus, as has my updating.

Just Recently I Bought a fairly straight Mitsi Diamante to tug the family around in, so the golf has had some work done to it, and volah its one step closer to the shed (that step being me paying for a skip bin t clear the s**t in the shed out).

the most recent replacements have been all the brake's, tyres, both lights (The filament in one had turned to a silvery dust causing it to fail a warrant, and of course as soon as it went back in they failed the other one for being dimmer)

I'm kind of tossing up wither to use it as a cheap run around for the next few months as I"ve just got it road worthy again, or to just chuck it on restoration and get stuck in.

New long term plan is to make it a track hack  ;)

Kapiti Coast - Wellington ;) where people hold onto there junk!
Cars been registered for another 3 months, enjoying the cheapness of the 8V to get to and from work.

Oh and more importantly daughters much better and has had the all clear, she learned how to add the pout into her repertoire of facial expressions for controlling her father  ;)

Cars been stripped of rear seats, carpet, general unneeded plastic, car getting prepped for superlap style duties  ;)

Blasphemous engine transplant should raise a few eyebrows in the distant future (an engine build is underway)
so the trusty 8 valve, gear box etc may come up for sale soon  :)

in some ways more blasphemous than a wankel heh  ;D

No... I have a shaved b16a head from my old intgera and have just purchased a b18c block...
yes im turning my golf into a honda powered vacuum cleaner.

Before the tirade of attacks hear me out, im trying to do a track hack on the cheap, and this includes maintaining it.
The b16/ b18 hybrid is a proven way of making a good power in a FF set up with little work, I already have alot of what I need laying about, and vtec and JDM parts are easier to come by around here then *cheap* VW parts.

It all gets whacked in a better looking and more nimble car, which has had a fair bit of work don on the suspension and fingers crossed im on to a winner.

On top of that its a bit different  8)

Without turning it into a pissing contest I know of a few b16/b18c engined cars you'd find very hard to keep up with granted they are filled with aftermarket parts, im still sure it'll be a great combo and im sticking to it  ;)

oh and got ya PM, will hold onto the plastics as long as the mrs can stand for anyones future projects  ;)
- also also you still after a citi grill?
