New B6 Tdi
« on: January 12, 2009, 07:12:11 AM »
A new baby for the new baby. Well expanding family requires a bigger car, as 5 into RS2 dont work that well, especially when two of them are in baby seats.

So that gives the wider family a lot of Vws, 1 x Golf Mk5, 1 x Golf Mk4 Gti, 1 x Passat 3C Sedan, this Passat, and the Mk1 Gti. And also the RS2, and a Fiat Spyder CS1. A bit of a laugh.

Anyway its Diesel, and wow, Tauranga and back still leaves over half a tank, rather than almost draining one and a half when fanging the RS2. Compared to the RS2 the drivers seats are not as good, and it lacks the grip of 4wd, and it obviously not a quick at passing or driving (though quite respectable). Other than those points the Passat is a better car all around, progress I guess.

Finally the RS2 two will be groomed for a new caretaker and somewhat regretfully sold when one fronts up. Will place a more detailed for sale post later this week.

Finally the integrated kid seats are a pretty neat bit of design. Heres the "now you see it", and "now you dont" pictures.

That kids seat it pretty cool.

Shame that your going to sell your RS2. Do you think you will regret it?

The BlueMotion and TDI 4motion are both manual only... the rest are DSG.

From the VW NZ pricelist:
Passat BlueMotion TDI 77kW 5-spd man $52,990
Passat 2.0 TDI 103kW  6-spd DSG $56,990
Passat 2.0 TDI 103kW 4Motion 6-spd man $55,990
Passat 2.0 TDI 125kW 6-spd DSG $58,990

Hi guys, its the 125kw model, and DSG, which I would have chosen if there was an option. I think the tdi and dsg are a great combo, especially for city driving and lazy family touring type driving.

Well 950km on the first tank of diesel, and only $69 to fill up. If that was the RS2 that would be 2.5 tanks of 98. Cant complain on that.

I think NZ Government should make road use charge free for all vehicle's under 2 tonne, would make no difference to road damage , but make owning a decent car much easier.

Might talk to John about that next time i see him
