they are putting a 4 pot in it insteadof a v6, and reducing the weight. Shouldn't be too heavy... and the scirocco race car was built on a tubular alloy chasis. they are going to do the same to the scirocco though aparently.

A V6 is probably 70 kilos heavier than a 4-cylinder, if that  Two extra differentials and a propshaft adds about 150+ kilos not to mention more suspention in the back to accomodate the extra differential and driveshafts there, amongst other things, no doubt.  Not sure if that's much of a weight-culling diet...

Thats probably more the reason they would use the 4cyl. Maybe they decided the V6 and 4motion in the R32 was all a bit too much.

V6 is gone for emissions reasons from what I have read on the internetz. I prefer the turbo path personally - easier to fiddle around with later on

Turbo's are fun, but in 15 years time when i can afford one that has done close to 200,000kms, i'd rather it made the power withought the turbo! (like my VR6 ) turbo's tend to break things when cars get older
