New RS5 pics
« on: April 07, 2009, 11:46:47 PM »
Blue car camouflaged with black plastic. I can guess flared arches 'a la UrQuattro', and they look good to me.

Well, the S5 is now a supercharged V6 a la B8 S4...

There seems to be a convergence of opinion on a naturally-aspirated 4.2 V8 with 450hp/460Nm.

Audi recognises that the 4.2 V8 RS4 doesn't produce the advertised horsepower - the engine simply doesn't get enough ram air to perform. They've fixed that on the RS5 apparently, so that the 30hp increase over the B7 RS4 will feel more like 80hp more.

A lot of speculation about the engine. German magazine Autozeitung came out this week with this authoritative quote:

Quote
Die riesigen Lufteinlässe im Frontspoiler lassen vermuten, daß hier das 580 PS starke V10 aus dem RS6 zum Einsatz kommt.

Now, regardless of your proficiency in German, I think you'd agree it would be awesome.

there appears to be a lot of conjecture over this and some large variations in tested outputs.
You do end up with large differences in output even with just fuel changes, there was the issue of the factory orignal spark plugs being wrong and fouling , causing smoke and loss of power etc etc.
