My old man is thinking about selling his V5 passat wagon for this:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Audi/A4/auction-216280733.htm

Passat is dark red, beige leather interior, manual. Pros/cons? Which is better? Anything to look out for with the Audi?

Yours please.

Test drive it (make sure no lights stay on the dash that shouldn't) and then get a diagnostic scan done (or VAGCOM  - I can do that if you like), and mechanical inspection from a specialist or someone on here who knows what to look for. Looks a nice car. Has it been serviced since 2006???

power steering/alternator belt
control arms and bushes (clunky noise in front)
heater core (smoke out of air con, misting of the windscreen)

one of my cupholders don't open up

check that the correct fluids have been used in the past (coolant, power steering etc)
