PROJECT CAR: MK2 VR6 Conversion
« on: September 18, 2009, 10:24:47 PM »

Now....what to do? Too many decisions!!

VR6?
1.8T?
Original or with 2.0 conversion?
It is getting harder to find decent examples, and even harder to find them in this colour... :-\

Someone needs to keep theirs original... that looks like a pretty tidy car, so a good candidate.

You already have a mean VR6 anyway ;D 8)

Id try and keep it original if it was mine. Do some wheels, suspension and grab Cam's 3A (2.0) block, that why it looks factory under the hood.

Whats your gut feeling Ash?

Ash go 2.0l 8v worked over, loads of 8v after market performance parts available unlike the abf, keep it original but go big windows.

Id like to see it low, big windows big g60 arches and bumpers but thats me  :D

Defo black and silver plates FTW but get them euro style

Do what you want to. Don,t do what everybody else wants you to do. You have a tidy GTi but not one that is so tidy that you have to keep it original.  Do the VR6 conversion before Rambo does

Hahahah yup Alan, i know! And i see ya point!

I do like it as it is, and really like the idea of keeping it relatively original and go down the track of Phil- in just making it a very cool and original styled Mk2. I would prob want to modernise it a little though...

In saying that, I did get it to do something different- and it's my love for the VR that has got me thinking about the VR conversion, plus i'd like to be one of the first if i do ;) (not including RobH cause that is just mental! >:D)

BUT, I love brendans 1.8T, and that thing stomps! :)

So i think, a bit more thought is gonna have to be put into it... :-\

I think you should raise it up a bit more ;D
Thou shalt not stop liking a band just because they've become popular.
Thou shalt not question Stephen Fry.
Thou shalt not judge a book by it's cover.
Thou shalt not buy Coca-Cola products.
Thou shalt not use poetry, art or music to get into girls' pants.  Use it to get into their heads.

if it's a nice one, maybe the mods should be made so that they are reversable, e.g. bolt in engine mounts etc. and keep all the old bits

Mine is a daily driver at the moment mate so its out and about most days.

If you want to take it for a quick drive to see how an 2L 8v MKII feels then let me know - no problem.
