Read the other day that the Falcon as we know it, may not be around for much longer. Ford are looking at standardising their platforms. Falcon sized cars will be based on the USA equivalent, which happens to be front wheel drive.

So maybe soon the V8 Supercars will be Holden versus Holden ie GM can play with themselves

They tried doing the same thing replacing the Falcon with the Taurus in the mid '90's. It didnt fly then.

If you guys didn't already know, Murph is missing the first round of the V8's because of his Top Gear Live commitments. Couldnt get out of his TGL deal as the V8 date were brought foward. Makes his Championship a lot harder missing a round.
Finger crossed he goes better this year is his Castrol Paul Morris/888 Commodore.

Radical format for Surfers street race:

http://www.speedcafe.com.au/2010/02/04/radical-format-for-surfers-street-race/
(good Motorsport websiet by the way)

"V8 Supercars Australia will promote the Surfers Paradise street race for the next two years and plan to incorporate the most radical two-driver per-car endurance race ever seen in the category.

After the disastrous A1 Grand Prix debacle last year where the category failed to turn up, The Gold Coast Bulletin reports today that the Surfers Paradise street race will be run by V8SA, the track will be shortened and international drivers will be used by the V8 teams in a unique format.

The proposed format would see two 300km races at the famous Gold Coast race, with two drivers used in each car – including at least one international driver per team.

According to The Bulletin, negotiations are underway with about 15 world-renowned motor racing drivers, with former Formula 1 and Indy driver Mark Blundell and 1997 Gold Coast Indy winner Scott Pruett locked in to compete.

V8 Supercars chairman Tony Cochrane said that the new format is a way to keep the Gold Coast race international.

“We have signed some really big international names to be a part of this weekend,” said Cochrane.

“It really internationalises the event here (and) in their home countries it gives all of their media a great story to focus on their drivers being out here for that weekend which obviously helps us as well with our international ratings.”

Sounds interesting!

The first round of the V8 Supercars was on over the weekend held at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. Jamie Whincup won both races, pretty impressive since it was the first race for Team Vodafone since there switch to Holden (not that Im a fan of either Jamie Whincup or Team Vodafone).
How about the pit exit of the Yas Marina Circuit, thats very cool.

The next round is held this coming weekend at Bahrain International Circuit, this time Murph will be behind the wheel of his Castrol Commodore.
