The overweight modern would be light and nimble if  all the safety requirements and emmissions equipment was not included. Unfortunately they wouldn't be allowed to sell it

Yeah they would..

it just means it would be less attractive to the Fat Balding (rich) men with small penile organs that wish to buy them

True but not really the same category as a hot saloon/wagon or even coupe as in RS5.
As a long time Lotus fan and ex owner I have a lot of time for Lotus but they do have their limitations when it comes to practical everyday use as compared to Audi el al
