Air cooled Combis seem to have their values rising like crazy crazy!
Barn doors, Devons, Wesphalias....
These are existing classics.

Yep I'm sure glad I have a Kombi - not one of the 'classic' shapes yet, but its aircooled so I'm hoping its only a matter of time!

What's the cut-off for a future classic? 1990?

When I got home to day I had my new Evo magazine waiting for me in the letterbox.
Greg will be happy, Birth of an Icon this month is the Integra Type R.

Also an article featuring the AE86 and Toyotas FT86 concept.

YES!! - great article and very accurate except for the pictures which show a twin headlight export only version of the 98 spec car.

The true classic is a 96 spec JDM car. Yes, just like mine  ;)   8)

The last sentence says it all:

"And after commending the Type-R for its 'organic' feedback','tremendous traction','miraculous' grip levels and 'searing pace and total involvement', we named it the greatest front-wheel-drive performance car ever."

Couldn't have said it better myself :).

And i thought your car speed was because you are such a great driver Greg, but it may appear that may not be true.
I am disappointed, because i thought you were a great peddler, but maybe the car does it all.............................. >:D

I think that if the Mk1 Golf was as good as people say, then Honda would have copied it.

No , they didn't, so maybe your car is better.

But i have never driven a Type R of any kind, so probability suggests to me that your car is just as you say.

I will never take anything away from your driving ability Greg, but It will be interesting how a home grown Mk1 will handle this weekend.

Please dont shoot me, the ........Falcon XR6 Turbo.

It'll be a great cheap 'mod project car', with 400hp plus plus easy, and ~good handling for the price point.

I quite like the old Corolla GT/FXGT and GTI's from the mid 80's early 90's hatchback which has the AE86 I think. Very hard to find a clean original example though, and even harder to find a NZ New one. If I was ever to move up from my GTI to something like an E30M3, then I'd be looking for one of these as a fun daily drive.
