I am really tempted, but cash may be the deciding factor and i am not sure if it will go straight in on the original mounts.

Maybe I will buy it and save it for a later date.

It will bolt up to all your original mounts, all you will need is a kr ecu to controll timing

Mmm really tempted, but it would be useful to see what the power gains would be from a 2.0 8v 3a and a 1.8 16v 9a?

Would it be a big gain?

Also the dizzy blanking plate in the block, could that be used with my old dizzy and do away wth the need for the kr ecu?

For starters a 9a 2.0l 16v produces 15kw more, is cross flow so will lose the heat issues. The 16v dizzy is driven off the back of the head and is completely different to an 8v one. A 16v on carbs would be a s**t load of fun

Eliminating the heat issue will be great plus and will avoid a nasty fireball!!

Well my girls car has gone for 4 years now with that mod and no over fueling.
Obviously her car was a carby in the first place and only has a block mounted cam driven fuel pump that pumps bugger all pressure anyway.
I was worried that the pressure would be too much for the carbs shut off needle system but its not.
But ideally a return system with the correct pressure for your carbs is best.
The world is full of love and fairness

believe me its worth the effort, My Scirocco runs twin side draughts on a 1471cc motor, puts a smile on your dial everytime

How are you doing air filters??  I made up my own trumpets that were fabricated to fit around brake linkages etc and ran foam socks. You do get quite a bit of induction noise through the firewall but theres a volume switch on the stereo for that

I also mounted a fire extinguisher in the car for obvious reasons

Upped the pressure as you said and goes a lot better, still a few more adjustments and it will be sweet, I reckon it may have been running a bit lean, with it spitting back through the carbs.

I have trumpets too with the socks fitted, bought them though, not custom made.

I usually carry the fire extingusher from the other car, but I will get one and install it, you never know do ya.

Bit of an update on my MK1 project.

I have bought the 9A motor, i just need to take it out of the Passat, I wondered if I could make any use out of the ECU from the Passat for the timing? It would save cash, could I just wire up the ecu to the MK1 wiring or do I have to find a KR engine ecu?
I take it the KR ecu is used as they are Mechanical injection?
Also, are the inlet manifolds similar to the 8V so I can use my Dellorto manifold?
Should be fun when its done ;D
