I really need to get the suspension in my VR6 sorted out as its rolling round like a boat.
I dont want to go over the top and spend a heap of money on it as its only my daily driver and not my fun/track car, so I thought Id get a Bilstein Streetline sports kit for it is a good brand at a good price, well in the UK it is (180 pounds)
So Im in two minds to either buy it from the UK or find the NZ Bilstein dealer and see if they have the kit in stock or see how long and at what price it will cost?

Any ideas people?

www.autolign.co.nz are the NZ distributor and they rebuild all the ones that are on the Subaru's.

sorry got that wrong http://www.bntnz.co.nz/ are the distributor, but autolign seem to get all the rebuild work so maybe they are like an installer/rebuild agent.  anyway I've used autolign for my old GTB shocks and they also rebuilt my gearbox mount on the VR6 turbo, they been good to deal with.

The best price I got for my Bilsteins was here - http://www.shox.com maybe Germany would be cheaper, certainly not so the UK. They delivered in under 14 days, minor drawback, they require a bank cheque, don't do credit card transactions.

Thanks for that John but the kit Im looking at is 180 pounds in the UK and shox.com is asking $600+ US.
What also makes the idea of getting the kit from the UK is that my Girlfriend still has to ship some of her boxs out from the UK, and from what I understand it will only cost another $60NZ to ship out another box which will take a month.

Still Ill give BNT ago as I know a bloke who works there.

be careful Nik, I've just noticed that there are different spec kits for mark III 2.0 and VR6, obviously the extra weight.  Make sure the 180 pound one is suitable for VR6, not teaching you to suck eggs or anything!

Also speak to Chris at Centreline (Autolign/shock shop dealer in Grey Lynn) He imports Bilstens direct from Germany and has priced some adjustable Bilstens for my Passat as they are not a listed item in NZ. ::)

He may be a usefull contact for your suspension requirements, he does a lot of work on Alfa/Fiat as well as other Euros ;)

Keep us all informed in how you go...

Hi,

I use Chris at Centreline in Grey Lynn for all my suspension work.  He  does superb work.

He priced up a set of Bilsteins for my Mk3 GTi, was a pretty good price. Fronts had to come from Germany. Cheaper than me importing.

Well I have been emailing euro car parts (uk) about getting new suspension for my VR6. I was after the Bilstein Streetline kit 4 shocks, (4 lowering springs)  which is ?180  ($475 NZ ex GST and fright).
Anyway, they are now saying that they dont make the Streetline kit for a VR6, even though there website says it does and that I can get the Sprintline kit for ?306.00. Including freight this will cost me $1,244 NZ (?165 freight in 4 days)
I know its not a bad deal but I was only wanting to spend about $1,000 NZ for a suspersion kit for the VR6 as its only my daily driver.

Any ideas what other brands and what other stores I should try? Maybe somewhere from the US?
