I wonder which engine will power this beast?
Skill is, sucessfully tightrope walking across the Niagra Falls.
Intelligence is, having the sense not to do it.

rambo_005

It will be the inline 5 turbo as per the TT RS.

oily

A super-tuned EA113 ?

Bigger question is will it retain the Haldex front-biased transmission of the S3 a la TT RS or will it use a rear biased quattro system like the RS5 ?

rambo_005

I believe it will be largely the same setup as the TT RS, but in the hatchback body shell.

They share the platform already... so it would be much more cost effective to use parts they already make.

oily

Ok, so it will probably get the same ho-hum response that the TT RS got.

hope they make it as a 3-door only?

No doubt it'll be made in a few variations, but'll only make it here in 5 door DSG/S tronic?

From what I have subsequently read, the ho hum initial reception my have been a bit of a premature assement

Really ?

I haven't seen any enthusiastic/rave reviews yet (aside from NZ Autocar...Blech and the Yanks...who don't get the TT RS).

The Pom mags say it's a throwback to old-school fast Audis.

Orange is good.

;D

I've seen an orange S3 5-door and TT-S, both looked great.

Very very tasty! Could be just the business in a year or two.............. and in red or blue - the ubiquitous dolphin greys and black probably won't do it justice. This car has to STAND OUT!   8)

HOT >:D
I've been for a ride in the TT-RS and I thought that was pretty epic. My friend who took me out owns an RS4 and he loved it- point and shoot power. he took me for a decent blat and that thing really moved. So in RS3 guise i think it would be pretty special... Love the orange and darker rims best tho...

Awesome looking car! Was talking to one of the Audi guys yesterday, pricing is set at just a touch over $100,000. It's pretty much a TTRS for $40,000 less and you can put your mates in the back. Faster to 100 than a V8 R8!

Nice

Looks like a bit of an homage to the RS2. Similar size and footprint

Nik you should get a twins shot with a blue one when they are released

That pricing sounds pretty reasonable. I was expecting $130k. Ahh well let's wait and see. Interestingly the RS3 is getting a bit of a slating on the overseas forums, but I reckon it looks good. I like that Audi are using the 5 cyl turbo for recent RS cars too - very cool.

this seemed odd to me, i had to google to check, but it seems there's a bit of variance in the V8's stated 0-100.

i've read 4.1, 4.4, 4.6 and possibly the one you read on wiki 4.8 (spyder) which is around the rs4's 0-100 as well.

(V10 is between 3.7 and 3.9)

still the rs3 is no slouch.

TTRS is faster to 100 than the v8 R8, I've seen the youtube video that proves it, and we all know everything on the internet is true.

But the engine is the wrong way round (some people are never happy, hehe).

$100k ain't bad but the rest of the spec leaves me cold...

TBH I prefer the look of the orange prototype to the new age RS5 style nose.

Where are the trademark RS one-on-each side dual exhausts ?

1575kg is too much bratwurst.

And only Audi would consider a 16.2:1 steering ratio "sporty".
