I'm seeing quite a few Golf Rs around so they must be selling plenty of them. I tend to agree on active dampening - it'll last long enough for the new car/almost new car owner types to love it.

Then by the time the car gets old and thrashed enough for the suspension to cost more to replace than the car is worth, they'll be cheap enough for monkeys like me to buy and do dumb stuff to like chuck coil overs in and fit wider wheels.

And it’s often a better option anyway, I know Vauxhall did away with it (IDS+) on the Asta VXR opting for a conventional Lotus tuned set up.

The shock should last as long as a conventional shock, so what 80,000-120,000km, most Kiwis’s never replace their shocks at all due to it not being a WOF issue so I can’t see it being a problem.

I know with all systems I have seen it’s as easy as throwing away the A/EDC shock and replacing it with a conventional item so manufacturers have obviously used foresight when designing the system.

I driven DCC and non-DCC GTI's.

Wouldn't buy one without DCC.

 ;)

Don't think it uses magnetic fluid filled dampers though, just electrically adjusted regular dampers ?

RS4, why did you not opt in for the Dyn Audio ugrade on the spec list. After all it was only a $1500/$2000 upgrade.

Think its the case of a waiting list.

It was more matter of likeing the RCD510 system, but not the speaker set up.
Plenty of contacts to build a damn nice system to spec.
The bose systems of old and the new systems in the audis are still pretty average compared with what you can build with good contacts and knowledge.

Im sure ill be more than happy at the end of the build.

Also im not one to wait for 6 months to get something i can design and build myself and get exactly what i want.

New dsg software is good. Chassis nicely balanced, though the factory michelin 17 inch tyres are s**te. No traction to be fair, thus going to 18's with top end tyres.

What tyres did you put on in the end?

We went with the Pirelli P Zeros. Suit the car nicely and for the money are a steal to be fair against anything else out there.
The contin 3 are a really good improvement on the conti 2 but pirelli was the way to go on the MK6.

interesting you should say that.
when I test drove my mk5 GTI with them on for a a couple of days. I came from the Pirelli P Zero Rosso's and Bridgestone RE001's.
I think the Conti's are rubbish, feel like you are driving on wooden rollers no feedback and heavy steering.
The Pirelli's are great for feedback handling. But piss poor mileage. I'm just hitting 11000km's and they will need to be replaced. My RE001's lasted going on 22000km's. Still look nearly new. Not as good feedback as the Pirelli's. But will be putting new RE001's on the front now and see how I go.

The RE001 are absolutely awful on the a4 quattro. I guess different people rate tyres as they see them or feel them.
The pirelli P Zeros i was referring to are the new version not the Rosso which although not a bad tyre are definately bad for mileage.
The new P Zero's will do close on 40000 with 275bhp. I rate that pretty damn highly to be honest.

You honestly should try the new P Zeros.
