Just a few questions regarding the 2.0 16v GTI and the VR6.

Could they both be purchased new? I know the VR6 could be, or is it the case like the mk4 GTI and the V6 4motion?

How much were they new?

:)

VR6 3dr and 5dr, 5spd and auto....yes.
16V not sold new here.
Correct me if im wrong, but 6x GTi 2L 8V 5spd were sold new (all 5dr?) about 1994? EMD went with VR6,GLI,CABRIO (dunno bout the CLI)

VR6 around $65k (i think)

Vento and the mk3 wagon not sold new here.

I think there were a few Ventos here. As for Mk3 GTIs, when Dad was a VAG dealer they had a few out here, I think less than 6, more like 3 or 4. The problem they had was that the GTI 8V ended up priced to close to the VR6.
I recall one of the NZ new 8V GTIs, it was a sliver 5 door and was driven by one of the EMD guys.

Ive seen one 8V Gti, was Dragon green (dark green met) 5door, had Bill Tapper VW plate surrounds on it as well.

The Vento was sold NZ New, saw one the other day, had euro sized plates mounts, & CCS window stickers, & a TL plate, with rego being 95.  But do not see them very often.  I have also seen 1 NZ New GTI, & yes was a 8v 5dr.

Why are the NZ New Mk3 Golf badged GL, & have a 1.8l, but have also seen some NZ New Mk3's badged GLi

Maybe emd offered two trim levels? or was it something more on the engine.
Have also seen a NZ new 5door diesel 5spd non-turbo 1994 met grey with hella quads.

I think if I recall right the NZ new 8v GTIs had 4 stud wheels.

IIRC the VR6 started at around $73K when first sold here in '93, but by 1997 was down to $59K.
