so why the hell did they try and make it look interesting if it just another peice of crap..

I dunno Hitman, you're the expert.

Its like making a GTI for ages and ages.. and then all of a sudden between one generation to another you decide you will make it equivalent to the last generations CLI...

Wait a minute...

I just figured out a pattern here..

every one knows how the MKIV GTI was a peice of crap compared to the other GTI's then they bought out a "new" variant called R32... basically what the MKIV GTI should have been...

So i guess they are opening up the gap again which can probably only mean one thing...

the R36 is a prospect now more than ever

Dubious

I heard somewhere that they were going to make a W8 powered Golf.  A bit of a long shot though.

Stuff that, just pull out all the stops.

Borrow the V12 from the Lambo Merc, rip out the back seats of a MkV golf, beef up the 4motion, chuck in the V12 and your away laughing.

no that was me...

then every one started making cracks like

what does W8 stand for in Text language..

and rex started going on about how the W8 is a crap engine block..

blahblah blah list goes on..

Well how could they make an R32 along side a V6 4motion?

Both would be a 3.2 V6, 6 speed manual and have 4motion. There is no point in making one slightly different looking to the other just to continue a model line. Perhaps the R32 was meant to replace V6 4motion longterm?

Who knows...

I have a theory on the MK5 R32

In Mk3.. there was GTI, & VR6.. GTI more racy looking, VR6 more grown up looking, especially in later trim

In Mk4.. GTI, & 4motion was VR6 equivalant. But GTI lost its way, & cue R32 to inject some life into MK4

So Mk5, we are back to GTI & VR6/4Motion equivalant.. One for the young at heart & one for the ones that want to feel more grown up.

Ah, yes, I see that's true now, but just in the last year, and I left in Dec 2004.  Before that the 1.8T and Vr6 were available but not with a GTI badge.
