Exact car information from Chassis No

Is there anywhere, a website or another facility that I can list the cars chassis No and get a complete readout of the accurate specs for my car.
I am in the process of trying to eliminate possible lack of power symptoms, the last being a vacuum pipe to the ECU that can perish as alot of the other vacuum pipes have (now replaced) , however, it has now been suggested on another forum that if it is the AAZ engine code then it has no ECU.
What gives me a VagCom readout then if its not the cars electronic brain i.e. the ECU???
I know diesels aren't the norm on here but there must be someone that knows something that can help

What car are we talking about? I can look up details on any post 1992 chassis number.
