don't see many of these on the road:

black BMW E30 M3, the real deal, had plate "EVOSPT" I guess meaning "Evo Sport".  I'm no expert on E30's I know they had Evo 1, II and III version, not sure how you tell the difference.  Anyway, very clean nice looking car.  If it was a II or III that would make it even rarer here...

Spotted in Gisborne today
1 S1 quattro replica for Andrew Hawkeswood

Lunar7

looks like is was based off a coupe, the windscreen angle is wrong the real S1's used the 80 sedan A pillars and front Screen

1joe

You are right!
Replica: The proper definition of replica is "a copy made by the person who made the original", though it is now commonly used to refer to any copy

Finding a two door 80 saloon must be getting pretty damn hard these days. Probably have to shop on the continent, I cannot recall ever seeing one in NZ.
Is the Rabbit from the same era a rebadged 80?

You won't ever find a 2 door saloon, they need 4 doors.
2 doors = coupe!!

robh

they made a 2 door Jetta sedan and I'm pretty sure a 2 door Audi 80 sedan as well.  2 doors doesn't equal coupe all the time.

As I understand you can take the rear end of the coupe and the front to a 2 dr Audi 80 ( Im sure we have one of those somewhere ) and join them together

There is supposed to be a guy on the west coast that has all of the moulds for gaurds etc etc etc

The reason for the A80 screen was to reduce glare as the A2 drivers found this a big problem and the A80 sedan has a more upright screen. The roof was composit, and from the B pillars back it's coupe.
The Gisborne replica builder is apparently an ex Audi works team crew member, although he started out as a fiberglass worker with the Ford team. I'm guessing his panels are as close to the original as you'll get....
