Hi all iv'e had a 94 S4 6speed sedan for a few months now. The other day a 93 S4 avant 6 speed came up, so i bought it! Ok it goes like this... The suspension on the sedan is far better than the soggy muck on the wagon( something to do with new Boge shocks I beleive). I know the front end will be the same and that the rears will interchange, but are they the same?? I have pulled the rears and dimensioally the springs are identical. The sedan springs have a paint code 1 yellow 3 blue, the wagon 1 orange 1 green. The coils are the same guage wire, the same overall diameter and the same number of windings. So how can they differ? Avants generally have heavier springs but aren't "sport" springs heavier anyway. Anyone know the paint codes?
TIA

The spring colour codes you mention, are specfically for the S4 (5 cylinder and V8).
