vr6 clarion VO-550 headunit question?

Had the headunit out to fit a band expander and noted there is a mini DIN plug (female) @ the rear of the unit,anyone tried to connect an I-pod adaptor at this point?
Have found a cord for sale that is mini DIN to 3.5mm headphone jack-reckon it may work?,thanks in advance.

Can you remember how you got on 10 years ago? I’d like to modernise my VO-550 while keeping the same head unit.
