Yeah, talented photographer and ex automotive engineer.

Some nice MTB shots, lots of familiar canterbury trails feature!

I watched them from the office doing this shoot down in the new Victoria Park tunnel after the seal had been freshly laid.

Nice. That camera rig is impressive.

i wasn't quite sure what the rig was for?

all the photos they took were stills?

you couldn't use it when the car was moving as the vibration up the arm would make it useless?

so you may as well motion blurred the background separately and whacked in the car after?  and not worry about photoshopping out the rig??

especially with the tunnel stuff as the majority of the lighting was artificial and predictable?

I must have missed the point?

it's a long exposure while the car is rolling slowly so you get the motion blur but the car itself stays in focus.

ahhh, cool cool

thought you could achieve the same look without the rig.

but then again, they are the experts!

When using a rig to shoot a vehicle, one uses long exposures, like 3seconds, 5 seconds, even longer times.
The engine is not running.
The propulsion is obtained by assistants physically pushing the car.
The pushers are out of line of sight,
Smooth roads with low light levels and even light give best results,
This is all shot mlu. Mirror locked up.
HEY! HO! LETS GO!

Very cool behind the scenes and wicked shots. What a treat to shoot an Audi R8GT AND in a location that nobody is ever likely to shoot in ever again...

They probably didn't even need to push it if it was on a hill :P

I've always thought those shots were cool too.  Always wondered how they did it without a visible rig... and then I learnt about photoshop haha  :P

How do you usually get such a long exposure in a fairly bright space?... low ISO, small aperture, filters, or is this sort of shot done with multiple exposures and fancy software?

phil

You can see in part of the clip he has a neutral density filter over the lens - lets less light in, allowing longer exposures.

That is one of many ways.......
