Project Luftcooler
« on: January 30, 2011, 11:40:11 PM »
Had my car in members cars - since I'm now building the car into something else figured I should start a build thread.

What: 1970 VW fastback - injected 1600.

Becomes: EJ20 turbocharged subaru - RS legacy powered

Been collecting bits and pieces.  Now have the engine, flywheel and adaptor to connect the gearbox.  Plan on changing gearbox to Rancho street pro -  extra spider teeth and super diff to handle more.

Been spending quite a bit of time tidying up old ATS mags - finally ready and my brake kit arrived at same time - so just in the process of fitting that up.
The brakes are 290mm vented front discs with VL turbo calipers and 260mm rears with EA flacon calipers.  Should pull up rather well considering the car will weigh 850kg when complete.

Here's some pics of the car until now;

are they an aussie made brake kit? look a heap better than the US one's and probably work better too. - nice work.

They are indeed. The US built ones won't comply here because of aluminum
Hubs etc.. This kit is great as the parts are all Holden/ford which makes pads/calipers cheap and easy to replace.
How's the datsun(s) coming along?

Yeah I will be hanging onto it for quite some time.  The attention it gets is unbelievable.  One night I came back to the parked car to find a love note and rose tucked under the windshield.  The note said "what a gorgeous car, thank you for making my night"
