Hey all,

Dont hate me because I have a auto! Id rather a manual these days too...

Anyway how does one check the auto fluid levels? Jem and myself had a quick look but couldnt find anything, ive found this picture from a rather large pdf of what seems to be a workshop book but its all in german.

Jem memtioned we might not be able to check the fluid level without having to rip her open, not good!

Any ideas? Does this picture help? (apparnetly the upload folder is full at the moment, ill upload to another site soon)

Thats right, there's no dipstick for the fluid level. The only way is to have the car on a hiost with the engine running in neutral and remove the drainplug in the auto sump, you then add fluid thru the filler tube at the front of the trans until it starts to run out underneath. Put the plug back in once the fluid stops running out. (all this is done with engine running in neutral)
If it was my car I would do a trans service anyway which involves removing the sump and changing the filter. All Golf's should have the auto's serviced every 20,000 km. No-one ever seems to do this and thats why they crap out.

Steve

To get the level correct, you must have the trans oil at the correct temperature too.

All sounds right, where is a good place to get this done?
Also, what is the number for Qualitat? or how ever its spelt.

Cheers guys

Any good auto trans shop can do it, like Auckland automatics (vey good) should be around 180-220 depending if it needs a flush or not.
