Dubious

Interesting that it's (slightly) quicker than the S4!
15 8V S3 APR Stage 1

A bit sad that they are both a bit slower than a Monaro!

I think there's a 6.0 HSV GTO which would be similar to the VXR
15 8V S3 APR Stage 1

Simon MkII

Not similar to, the same as. The VXR is just a HSV GTS coupe. It may be slightly different but mostly the same.
Mazda Mx5

Its pretty impressive that its nearly 3 secs a lap faster than the MKIV R32

I notice you can get a GTO with a Dealer Team Spec - Stage 2  and Ohlins suspension ($21500 and $6000AU).

As for the lap time, I've seen poeple talking about a new Stig. Could that be where some of the 3 secs come from?

Gotta love the Alfa 147GTA being the best of the front drives so far. As they agreed on the show, it is an animal

Are you talking about the 147 GTA (1.35.6) or the 3.7 GTA (1.30.0)?
Look like very different beasties.  Maybe they should throw in an HGP R32 TT just to confuse things?  ;D
I think that makes the Focus the quickest FWD car around their track?

tempq18t

Actually glad you pointed that out cos as I was typing it yesterday I was wondering where the Focus had got to cos I was sure it was quicker around the track - just not half as fun to drive eh

So you wouldn't bother with an R32 when you could have a Evo or STI WRX? They are both cheaper, more focused and a bit faster.

But they are Japanese cars, no history or passion in the build of them

Simon MkII

I bet they are an awesome drive though. Look nicer than the MK5 r32 IMO.
Mazda Mx5

tempq18t

I reckon they have all lost the looks eh, not sure if any of the 3 appeal IMHO.
Take the running gear from them and put it into the previous models

Simon MkII

True. I think the last true Evo was the 6.5. Still had all the big wings and flares, looked like a proper rally car for the road. Now they just look like a 1.5 lancer with a spoiler and some mags.
Mazda Mx5

Yeah, I agree there, I don't know for sure which of them is which as I take bugger all notice of Japanese cars but somewhere between the 4(read LEMON) and the 7(read WHAT THE?) there was something you could at least consider taking for a thrash in the bush.
I don't even know what Subaru are thinking about these days, dunno what car it is but there was a big billboard up by the Empire in town, looked like they had stolen the bonnet from a McLaren Mercedes, and then let Kia shape the car from there. very odd
