Another solid days work, really starting to look like something now (from the outside anyway..!)
Got the H&R coil overs in, new 288mm brakes, rebuilt the CV's and whacked them in too. Then I test fit the wheels (and adapters), the backs sit perfect. ET10 17x8 and they probably have a cheeky poke of 5mm. It's hard to tell at the moment how the fronts sit, at ET15 they poke like 15mm but it needs an alignment as it clearly has positive camber on that side. I think it may need to have about 5mm shaved off the back of the wheel though to match the fitment on the rear.
I'm really like the wheels though, suit the white well IMO, and very euro.

looks great Sam, so crisp in the white too! Wheels are perfect but i think the SSR's painted white could also be pretty fly.what rubber are you going to run too? The rear looks hella flush 8), not a huge fan of the front poke tho...

I'm surprised you ended up using the rear spoiler on the hatch tho? I thought you'd go clean hatch, don't get me wrong, spoiler painted white looks cool too. If i could suggest maybe looking for a pair of standard GL lights (red & Amber) as i think the colours would suit the white- Complete Hella Reds would be the business too!

just my 2cents- But it looks fantastic!

Cheers boys

Yea don't worry Ash that front fitment will be sorted out, the alignment is all out to whack which is pushing it out like that too. The end result (probably after I mill the inside of the wheel a tad) will be flush or ever so slightly poked like the rear.
Tyres will be 195/40/17, surprisingly I found they are legal on LVVTA's tyre/wheel spec sheet so that's handy for cert purposes

These will be my 'winter wheels'. Once I sell the GTI the SSR's will come off and will be my winter project. I will get them refurbed for next summer. I'm thinking redoing them in white would look pretty fly  8)
When the car is done though I may have to try on an LM to see how your gold looks, because that would look pretty hot too I'd say

Rear hatch - not sold on the clean look, I'm 50/50. Plus that would mean new glass as there would be the three mounting holes otherwise. Rear heated glass = $$$$
There was some debate as to whether I should leave the spoiler black or colour coded. I think colour coded suits the white better though

Tail lights - yea I'm 50/50% on whether I like the current ones. I think they need a good buff to be honest, they just look dull. I was contemplating some of those two tonne FK ones though, top half clear or tinted, bottom half red. I think the whole car needs to be complete though to make that call

Latest update: a sunroof.

For a while it looked like I may have a garbage bag as my sun roof after having 3 sunroofs of which none worked properly.
Almost a solid day was wasted drilling the rivets out, opening up a couple of the roofs, replacing broken parts until it functioned, cleaning and re greasing then reassembling.

I just hope the bastard doesn't leak now. It's gunked up pretty good though so hopefully not

Nice. Not a wasted day - you got to know the inner working of your car just another bit better :) Imagine how satisfying it will now be to press the button to slide the roof back on a hot day!
