Bad sound when starting golf? bad stater motor?

All of a sudden when i turn the key and start the car there is this horrible wining sounds . . . ?!

any ideas?

Starter motor bushes are dry, remove the starter, clean and lube bearings

haha it has only happened since a girl has been driving it goes away as soon as car starts though

I thought a sound like that on start up was associated with the starter motor sticking after it's fired? Or is that the same thing?

it will be the bearing mine and the girlfriends have both started to do it in the last couple of weeks.

Do as Vert says.
The VW starters have a bush in the gearbox casing that needs replacing sometimes, I have a couple somewhere if you need one.

Well take out the starter first and look in the hole to see if the bush is worn first. Cause they are not that easy to replace.
