So after a year hiding in the car port, have moved the mk1 to the garage at my girlfriends place. Been spending a bit of time cleaning and polishing the faded paint and digging around looking for suspicious bubbles and bumps. Now its time to get started...

Been looking at overhauling all the suspension components and i'm looking for info from anybody that may have installed poly bushes?? Was looking at powerflex as they have wicked reputation, however let me know your experiences so i can weigh up my choices.

Cheers guys

Powerflex is a good brand as is Bugpack, pretty sure I have some MK1 bushes at work.

Standard rubber bushes could be a good (cheaper) option. After all your bushes are more than likely 30 years old.

Yeah but refitting standard rubber bushes doesn't sound as cool  ;D

Will have a shifty at the Bugpack ones aswell. What bushes have you got kicking around at work vert??

I was going to get some Powerflex bushes for the RS2, but it was going to cost me about $1,000 for them all.
Rubber will tighten it up really well.

Have you used these before?? Whats the quality like on them?

In my old mk2 I had a set in the front, they were fine, tightened it up a lot

I went along the same lines about 18 months ago

The 82 soft top had lots of old worn rubber

so I started putting urethane everywhere - front suspension, engine mounts, anti roll bar components.....

Made the car too uncomfortable for a daily driver (for me - it is all VERY subjective)......

subsequently replaced all of the urethane with brand new rubber and I love it (admittedly have also put on stiffer anti roll bars front and rear) - smooth and comfortable with almost no body roll and never bottom out the suspension with the ensuing uncomfortable thud.

But - if you want to go urethane I have a complete set for the rear still in the prothane packaging.....

Have now bought a 16v Mk II and will be going rubber all round (as soon as I track down the parts)

That kit looks like what I bought for my Scirocco though mine is BugPak and not from GSF. GSF are awesome, by the way. There are a few things not in the kit, you can get them in Prothane from Stocks. Makes the suspension work like it was meant to. Great bang for bucks, but I did not solid mount the engine, bought new rubber for that.
