Ah, so what. They have a ECU rev limiter restiction to 7,000rpm when cold, so i doubt you can do too much damage to them.
Some people overestimate how hard they are being driven due to the exhaust flaps and how they suddenly louden up at revs or throttle position.

Plus, being German engineering, i would expect them to be able to take a bit of a beating. You're right about the "sudden" noise thing too.

I don't think there is anywhere realisitically you can drive an RS4 hard consistently without getting a ban ! I mean, in a controlled test environment, i've been doing speeds that are quite scary really and the thing is barely working. I'd rather have a car that has been driven hard on occasion , while warmed up nicely, than one that has pottered around town and been consistently overfueled and run cold. And it is quite over engineered for what it is, the german Audi tech that was in wgtn looking at mine said they don't really consider them fully run in until 50,000 MILES !
