« on: January 19, 2012, 08:53:19 PM »
Hi,

Thinking of getting a MK5 GTI as our second car (That will make GTI family... I am definitely keeping my Polo GTI) anything particular to look out for? DSG with low mileage...

Cheers

Hahah I knew you would say that Vert. It's my friend's car who bought it brand new 5 years ago. It's only done 53000km and he looked after it well. I don't think he has any issues with the car, and I don't intend to modify it (maybe apart from Revo stage 1). It's for my wife (to be soon), so needs to be self shifting box....

The only downside I find with my DSG is it doesn't like quick changes between forward and reverse, makes quick 3 point turns into not so quick 3 point turns. Otherwise it's great.

Thanks - apparently only gear shift he can currently feel is when he slows to stop from 2nd to 1st, where he can feel that it's shifting down. He had this for quite a while now and not getting worse. I wonder if I do DSG reset with my VAGCOM, it would improve. It's April 2006 model - so it is an earlier model with probably earlier batch DSGs.

I will probably get an Autosure insurance or something... anyway to get this at reasonable price?

Anton how many kms have you done, and is your DSG perfect, or do you have any gripes about it?
cheers ;-)

96,000kms has a slight thud in to 3rd sometimes.. but usually on certain inclines..

and occasionally gets the 2nd to 1st clunk when slowing down rapidly.

thats it. other than that goes awesome!
