So dropped my car off to do a few minor things and they handed this awful thing over...

Spent a while on the side of the road playing with the dials and buttons then took the long way to work...

Driving along thinking its very flash and has some decent pull to it, but then wondered what the 'S' shift select did.

WHY THE FACE!?

Worst idea ever!

Now the questions are

- what organs can you live without
- how much can you sell said organs for
- how can I Jedi mind trick the wife into thinking its better to live in a car than a house.

JSG, I don't want to hear how easy it is to lease one of these things and you can do 36 easy payment plans...

:P

my first thought too... they are f*#ken huge!
BUILT not bought

BB

Now you know why they gave you it as a loan car ;D

Seriously tho I don't know how you could ever have any fun in NZ in a car like that, choppy tried to get me to do a few pulls in his ramped up diesel golf yesterday but there was just no where safe to do it.
Maybe Wellington has some good places >:D

Is it a RS5? Looks fantastic.
The end is nigh, but the end of what is the question?

yeah , she's one huuuuuuuge b*tch!

have to ease it into the park!

first thoughts

pros
- fun times!  speed and power to burn
- heaps of space
- very new and flash

cons
- find steering too heavy
- don't like the shape of the wheel
(I'm sure you can get used to these)
- not loving the auto at all (normal mode too slugish, s mode way too agressive)
- not really engaging (auto again)

overall thoughts

it's very very nice but... i think it's shown me that I don't need \ want another performance wagon (sure, this one is waaay more performance than mine).

if anything I'm now focussing on a q5 , q7 or range rover thingy for the people \ child moving

nah, it's a rs6 wagon. :D

you're right though.  I think my car is bordering on silly driving these roads and this thing is mental compared to that! so i'm not sure where you're really get to appreciate it \ open it up

They are for touring the autobahns.
They just get choked up here.

just went out and had another look
soooo much room in the back!  (with the drivers seat in my normal position)
but....
the boot space is crap
well more for the fact that it's a bubble , so the hatch comes down over most of the space
so you can't actually put anything 'big' like a desk etc in it  (cause you know ,it's a moving van...)
but it does have motorised opening and closing!  :P

Some harsh criticism there JY :P

normal mode too sluggish, s mode way too aggressive.......... Did you just say a Lamborghini engine is too aggressive O_o
And as for the shape of the wheel this is only valid to tall people with knees, you may not understand that   :P

nb:  I inquired about the C5 RS6 at fast fours and it's servicing

they said it hadn't had it's cambelt replaced yet and was due at 120...

i'm pretty sure the rs's have a cambelt replacement ever 60 > 80k?

I had quite a lot of time in a new RS6 and as I said before - if i lived in Europe or UK and had to drive up and down motorways all the time (esp european ones) I would love an RS6. In NZ it's basically useless - too heavy to be as agile as a 4, too fast really for our roads and hard work around town. Don't get me wrong it is an awesome car but not for here, a 4 would be a better wagon.

And its sold to a bloke in Wellywood apparently (would that be you Mr Weta??). Went down there on Saturday ready to talk turkey but too late. Bugger.  The car is still on the yard but apparently they are just sorting the paperwork.

C5 RS6 has cambelt service interval of 60k. Its about a $3K job via CCS or Giltraps. Front discs and pads usually at around 120k depending on how driven.
