One feels inclined to ask, "What make it the best example?"

The outside and engine bay are pretty, but when you're in it, it's tired.

Classic... I love any listing that says "cars in good condition apart from lil scratches n dents... "  my translation "Yeah bro, it's mint apart from the bits that aren't"

I hope this is no one one here  ;D

It's a cool car, no need to make crap up.

"It's much safer than an equivalent Japanese hatch with big tough side intrusion bars all around and 2 x airbags. "

Umm... No, since the mid '90s your average Japanese car had side intrusion bars and 2 airbags.

"Keep in mind that these were $74,000 brand new in NZ when a similar priced Japanese car might have been $20-35,000 new. You're getting much better bang for buck with a VW. "

Umm... No, Similar priced Japanese cars were also $74,000, give or take.

OK. so I'm a picky bastard, that's why I started this thread.  :P

This one is hard to work out:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/volkswagen/auction-511326128.htm

Listed as having travelled 89,000kms But apparently the Car has done 149k.... but wait... the engine has done 104k....  What part of the car has travelled 89k?

Apparently the last engine failed, but "it's never missed a beat".  I guess they must measure their beat missing differently to me. For me, when the engine blows up, that's a definite black tick in the reliability column.
