My car is black on the outside and black on the inside, which is all good except that when left in the sun it is like returning to a three door Bikram yoga studio. Does anyone have any experience with getting windows tinted (to the max 35%) and can recommend someone to do it?

i'm giving that a 2/10,
purely for the fact that i'm not "metro" enough to understand it.

but i need tints too.
i'm far too ugly for the public to see me.

It'll cut the heat significantly, but you're going to need to buy A-spec material. I just moved here and can't recommend a product or installer. Stick with "metalic" tint...my preference is what I'm running Lumar Titanium, 30%, grey.

They look cool too  :)

Cheers,

Same deal with me, black on the outside and black on the inside, except i'm a 5dr Golf. Got my windows tinted to max 35% all round. The tints I have do cut the heat out significantly. If you have ur windows up on a hot day and then wind them down while in direct sunlight, u can really feel the difference on ur skin.

Got mine done at Tint-a-Car in Grey Lynn. Good service etc etc. Got mine at a discounted price of close to $500 incl GST which included about $150 to remove the interior trims (had to be done off site by someone coz its a euro, parts exp to replace etc etc if broken).

Yea mine were the "midnight express" ones. I think usual retail is $350 for the tints, but got a special introductory price of $262 just for the tints + trim removal + gst comes to nearly $470.

Hmmm seems strange they would charge extra for 'trim removal'. I got my mk4 Golf done by CarTint in Onehunga for $230 inc GST and my S4 wagon done for $250 because of the 2 extra windows. Great job on both of them.

Yea I thought so too....but they said they didn't want to remove the tints themselves incase they broke them. So they took the car to somebody else before hand and thats where the change comes from. A bit of a steep charge too...but meh...I just wanted the job done.
