Now that Germany has confirmed production of the ASG Up!, NZ has
decided to hop on to the band wagon.. :(
Seems a manual blue-motion version will come though! (And Skoda's Citigo)

hmmmm, a range of five door options

is the ASG single clutch?  our work car was a single clutch FIAT and while the changes probably were as fast as a manual, they seemed to take forever

Yes, I believe it is just an automated manual and not so good from initial reports.
They do not creep and consequently you need to give them gas to move in traffic which ends up as a series of jerks.
Apparently the 5 speed manual has a very nice change so obviously the way to go.
I still think that the Skoda Citicar looks better than the UP. Having a 'proper' front gives it a bit of character, in my eyes anyway

Having seen the up!, Citigo and Mii all together in Paris, I would have to say the Mii is my favourite, then the up!

The 3 door up! has a nicer side window design than the Mii and Citigo however.

Well that sucks..

"the ASG ?box is just about tolerable for the kind of driver who will only ever drive the Up very slowly and avoids the worst excesses of a ?nodding dog? gearchange action, it simply is not a sensible choice for anyone who wants to take advantage of the Up?s main dynamic assets ? its excellent engine, chassis and steering."

So these bright sparks here decide, its the one we are getting!

Yeah, pity really, I was quite considering one of these for a replacement 'shopping basket'  but looks like that is a no goer.
Mind you, I still think that the Citigo looks a whole lot better than the Up

as set out in this post, it looks like the UP! is coming to NZ, at least yet, but Tristram have or had the two 5-spds that EMD brought in

According to today's NZ Herald, it's not coming to NZ at all - EMD apparently "could not get the pricing right" and instead are pushing the newly price reduced Polo.

Now that super sucks big time, it would have been awesome to see them on the road.
Well seems we'll have to wait for private imports or hopefully independent VW dealers will
import some like above!

Maybe they didn't go for heated leather seats and alloys

You have to remember that Volkswagen runs their own distribution company in Australia (VW Group Australia) so probably has the ability to sell these on little or no margin, unlike EMD here in NZ.
