Spotted: Mk5 Jetta in AK

Saw a black Jetta 2.0 TDi on the northern motorway today on the North Shore (DFJ 87).  I wonder if EMD is trialling it here.. The car had Volkswagen NZ plate surrounds, but behind the plate was a rubber strip designed to support a Euro-style plate.  Looked very cool, not so bulbous like the mk5 Golf.

I remember seeing them in the paper with the launch of the mk5 golf here. Said they were going to bring them in, but at the price they compete with the Accord Euro which is some tough competition for the wee jetta!

But its weird, I havent seen anything of recent that shows they are bringing them in.

Still waiting to see a Q7 too, i thought we would be one of the first to get those aswell!

I was on the VW site today and along with a pic of the MK5 R32 there was a Jetta and an April 2006 availability date. Tried in vain to find it again but no joy.

I think I saw something in Giltraps newsletter about the Jetta in mid 06? May have been somewhere else but definately saw it.

I've seen 2 '06 Jetta here. One was tan/gold and the other black. I really don't like the big chrome front.

Hrm, I still prefer the Octavia tbh, I reckon the quality from the Mexican factory is far too dubious

Yeah there's a black Jetta that has been parked at uni the last few days, the chrome front is pretty prominent.  I think the Q7 is due August according to CCS

parked next to one the other day, it is very, very nice! Can't wait to see some modded versions rolling around! Will they put it out in W8 guise?? Just off topic, but how do the W8's go??

Uh??? There's always been a noticeable gap in styling and size. What's he going on about? Price? Surely they've had some control over that all this time.
