Can really find this on the web, anyone know the weight of a 911 2.2T motor compared to a 1.8 914 on carbs, not tyre kickin just have a mad idea :-\ :-\ for my 356 repower, cheers.
1974 Porsche 914 with 2.2T 911 6cyl,
Audi a6 allroad 2007 3.0TDI stage 1 reflash ,
89 Corrado 2.0 16v, Stilauto RX 17in wheels,ABF on k/jet ,resto underway maybe up for sale ?,
2002 T4 transporter 2.5 TDI.

Could you just look at the difference in quoted weight for a 914 and a 914-6? Or did they have different other bits?

All I've found is a mention to avoid the 2.2T crankshaft as it's not counterweighted.
These are my thoughts and opinions - sometimes I'm wrong, but not often ;-)

Ah but it spins up more quickly without all that weight . My car had an uncounterweighted (I assume - I never had it apart) 2.0 T engine which had been used as a race car for a while. It still ran after 250k km (removed for a bigger engine). I suspect the counterweights aren't quite so critical in real life (ie, at reasonable revs, which is all a 'T' engine wants to do anyway).

This might give you a ballpark, although the one on the scales is alloy cased not magnesium case (like a 2.2 would be):

Its a bit hard though - you never know what's included. Looks like at least 50kg, but probably not more than 80kg... plus whatever other changes are required (transmission?)

Another thought - you could compare weights of 911 vs 912, although any difference of equipment is going to stuff up the comparison...

Why they run hard ,you must have got this info from the USA bs sites, these motors are fine unlike the 2.7 which was dictated by the usa smog laws and was a lemon motor.
Got the weights sorted thanks to CamB,may look a camber reset and moving the weight foward a bit.
