ExUk imported by Anne. There has been a cock up and its been registered as a 1987 which I think its a 1977. I think it might be a 1977? Also, it could be a Richard Lloyd racing conversion, I think they did the conversion from LHD to RHD before the factory started doing in in 1978 - hence why the wipers go the wrong way on your car. Its had some 1980's aftermarket bodykit on it, and had its steel bumpers updated to the later plastic ones - this was done in the UK.
Im pretty sure those wheels were the original wheels off my Mk1 GTI.
Correct on all counts, I've also checked the chassis number with the help of a fellow member dave, and confirmed this is in fact a 77. It was converted from LHD to RHD and the bodykit has since been removed. It was also turbo'd at some stage and removed. The bottom block is Audi80 I think from what I've been told. The wheels was swapped a few times, not sure where those one's came from. The engine still turned round 5 years ago and they said it goes like stink, but it's in pretty bad shape atm. I haven't pulled anything apart since the body is really bad and don't want to proceed until I know for sure what to do. I'm looking for a donor car, but from what I've heard it's not going to be easy.
I'm going to get some expert advice on the body, as that's my main concern. The interior and mechanics I'm not too worried about.
