Maybe its like the equivalent of my Mk1 GTI? My car still is the older car (small rear lights, older dash and seats) but has the later plastic bumpers.

That was my old one, was seriously rusty. Sold it to a guy in auckland who had a couple of them

Pretty sure lane would only dismantle something that was un- salvageable . He has the preservation gene.

Nik, answer is yes. I have an itch to restore one, prob the next car to own and work on since the mk2 is not far off completion now, should be complete next year. I want something a bit older next (as you get older you start to appreciate older cars i guess) and the mk1 Scirocco is for me the perfect candidate, have really grown fond of them of late and in all aspects really.

Time will tell...

- Wellington  blue
- Palmy North silver
- Mikes Riviera blue, gls, facelift, ex Canterbury. Was on the road when Dennis sold it.

Off the road
- Neils ex silver, gls, facelift  Now Marino yellow, ex Canterbury, soon to be on the road
- Mikes other one or two? , 1 is ex 00quattro00 silver, rusty.
- Tristans Work in progress, pre facelift, green, ex Blenheim, 16v upgrade.
- Tristans old one (now a shell) with Brendon. Long term Auckland car, red.
- Lane has wrecked 2
- Vw rally 1x 75 ts, plus 1x parts car

Total approximate 12.

There was the blue one that was made into a convertible and wrecked by Jem

Tristan's was a facelift but he converted it to the earlier spec using parts off the red one

Pretty sure he's done dual wiper conversion to single as well. Has an awesome interior in it.

Tristans ex red car. T swapped the front guards to give his green  car pre facelift guards. Shell looks average but better than it looks.
