yeh $100 to fill as well, at least the mileage is reasonable, i get about 500-550 a tank, not like the lancia i used to have, lucky to get 200mi out of a 60 litre tank..... and it was only a 1600... glad i'm not filling that up anymore.

100 Quattro has an 80l tank, has been costing me over $100 for some time to fill would be about $140 if it was empty, get 550k's on a fill lasts me about 7 - 10 days.

The Haynes manual for my '85 80 says 68l, my handbook says 75, yet I have put in 78 before. Makes no difference, it's been more than $100 for a while.

EDIT: Let's assume that the tank was 70l, my city consumption being under 10l/100km would mean I should see at least 700k to a tank. I normally fill up when she gets down to around a 1/4 tank(accuracy of guage notwithstanding), and the odo shows around 600-650 kms.

Woohoo - $106 for 58 litres - totally stoked  ;D ;D ;D

Yeah that's right - could be a year from now that we look back on this post and think "$100 to fill the tank - damn that was some good times!!!"  ;D

well. we have bought it on ourselves... the more we use petrol the more prices are going to rise.. Petrol WILL be 2.50 before the end of this year unless the population puts their foot down..

The more we let or stupid left wing govt push us round.. the more Tax they are going to recieve from us the suckers.. they are clipping the ticket on 54cents per litre (not including GST on the petrol too..) and not a dollar of that is going to roads..  >:(

i think that's the problem, we already are. ;)

i look at it this way, per litre petrol costs less than milk and yet has much more massive costs associated with production.

My thoughts on that are that Milk should be cheaper than petrol! After all I drink a litre of the stuff a day.

Last 3 fills in the S3 have been just over the $100 from dead empty, based on 60 litres and getting 480Km per tank, thats $0.20 per KM.....

just filled the S3 this  morning. 1.849
however I get around 550km per tank.

I agree, only thing is there is a slight flaw, that is that the government taxation is static, ie it doesn't change when the petrol price goes up, therefore, if our consumption of petrol drops then the governments tax take also drops, and they then have to put up other taxes (or increase the petrol tax) to compensate, doh.

On another note does anyone know what avgas is at the moment? It was $1.90 in the last week of march when 98 was about $1.74 ( i think) Not much in it really......

interesting... are there any long term ill-effects when using avgas?

It has lead, which contaminates the O2 sensor and causes problems. Sorry don't know anything more specific.

crap I must be old I can remember when it was 48 cents

avgas is leaded, therefore is not road legal, it also will kill your o2 sensor (rendered totally useless due to deposits on the actual sensor body that cause the sensor to effectively burn out) however i beleive that you can buy lead safe sensors, no idea what they are worth, but i imagine a lot. Also leaded petrol is particularily corrosive and is very likely to damage things like exhaust systems. (may effect other things in the fuel system too, i dunno for sure) nothing like the smell of avgas and hot brakes at dawn though, and the crisp crackle  of a group a rally car with anti lag armed..... ;D

Kumeu BP 1.80 a litre i think.. you cant pour it straight in to a car.. u need to put it in gas cans first..

a Good way to mix race gas is to mix it with 91.. 91 has properties that 98 doesnt have... apparently its a really gutsy mix too!

............ my handbook says 75,..................

Error Correction.
Handbook says 68, Q version 70. Where 75 came from I don't know. I'd still like to know how I managed to fill up (when I first bought her) by putting in 77,9l !! inot a 68l tank. Is there a 'reserve' that isn't included in the stated capacities?
