Hi guys, thinking to buy my 1st Audi and  would appreciate any advise on below.

I am still hesitating to choose between 2004 A4 1.8T Avant Quattro or 2004 A4 2.0 Avant. Any comments on these 2 models? As it will be my daily use car, I would like a car with good pick up and performance.

Any common  issues on 2004 A4 model?

I will get AA for the inspection, is there any particular part of the car that AA should give serious consideration to?

What mileage the cambelt need to be replaced?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Dont buy the 2.0 unless its manual, CVT is rubbish on non quattro cars. Cambelt needs to be done at 6 years or 120,000km

Yep Go 1.8T you wont regret it, check the Coolant Flange at the rear of the engine they all leak eventually.

If you're doing a pre-purchase inspection, don't go to the AA, take it to a VW/Audi specialist.

The AA don't know squat and don't really care, they are more interested in getting the report out of the way,the last reply is right on the mark

Sorry don't know too much about the later car but have 1.8 (2003 model) and it goes well for that size motor.

Looking at those choices, I'd also consider http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/audi/auction-613348184.htm if you don't mind a slightly (*cough*) thirstier machine :)
