Seen a few clips on YouTube and I like it.

Seems like they've improved it overall over the outgoing MK6.

I've seen the expected cost in the US to be 36k USD?

NZ cars start from $68,500 for the manual - woohoo

If you click on the latest spec sheets; the manual R is slower, thirstier and dirtier than the DSG.

But look at the corresponding GTI figures and the DSG and manual GTI are pegged for acceleration, the manual has higher top speed and is thiriftier and cleaner.

The reverse of the MY08 Mk5 GTI manual/DSG.

That's progress ?

I had a back to back test drive of the Mk6 and 7 Golf R's last weekend. The new one is leagues ahead. Such a great all rounder.
Made me want one REAAAALLLLYYY bad.

Only gripes is that the bigger screen and DCC aren't standard fare, but thats VW for you.

Traditionally the AWD Golfs have never been the best to drive but this one appears to be the best so far.

R vs. GTI Performance Pack ?

Let's see what the GTI Clubsport brings...
