haha, this is one funny man.
In all seriousness, any and all Direct injection engines are suffering these issues. I believe the Mistubishi's are by far the worse?

is it the same for gti as well? What's the cost involved? I'd say it would be worth it after looking at those pics!!

install a watermeth basic kit and never have the issue again..

or buy a car without a bullcrap Direct injection engine.. and have intake ports and valves that look as new as the day they were installed

as long as Direct injection engines exist this issue will exist unless they factory install the Auxiliary injector in the intake plenum to wash the intake / Valves. (then this kind of defeats the whole idea of Direct injection.

because the fuel mixture bypasses this part of the intake there is nothing to eat away/burn off carbon and keep the intake clean... not even Catch cans or any other marketing bullcrap will stop this effect.

Direct injection is a marketing Farce....

WaterMethInjection assists in cleaning off existing carbon and acts as a "boost cooler" and "octane booster" but this is another conversation all together.

Interesting..

But I'll keep my bullsh*t direct injection RS4 though and keep smiling :)

16 hours labour + about $150 of materials. Drives so much better..as other people have said, past 5000 RPM you're really noticing the extra power.

Who did it for you? I am keen to get mine done too. Also...thought I saw you on Stancombe Rd on the weekend...but no personalised plate anymore?? (Otherwise there is another black Avant lurking around this side of town just like yours.)

Heh, Audi V8 cleaning keeping my brother in a job :P

I wonder if stuff like Seafoam or the Subaru upper engine cleaner would have any effect if used regularly?

I am no expert but I can only guess that is because Mitsubishi GDI's are the oldest? On the upside they do not take 16 hours to clean.

I think having these things cleaned is a bit like a cam belt change, its par for the coarse when driving a direct injection car and one would hazard the fuel savings over time more than cover the cost of maintenance.

It seems a lot of RS4 drivers have done this, but has anyone with a smaller capacity motor done it? Maybe one of the 4 potters? And if they have, what did it cost? Just curious if its worth getting my A3 done. Thanks lads.

Yes, Clint and Matt are great. Did mine a month or so ago, and definitely got some power back. Great service, and would recommend them if you are close to the city.
