doh, as per subject

anyone know how much this costs to fix?

The US hose is US$400! surely I can just go down to the local power steering shop and get them to jimmy up something...?

damn I'm a student now I can't afford to fix this car anymore .. :(

what model ?         and which pipe ?

yeah most decent places, can take the connections off and reconnect a new piece of pipe ...

but some times they have a piece inside that equalizes pressure ? and if missing may make the steering groan or sing.

the phantom

it's cheaper to get one made up, $279 excl for a MK4 Golf

ah yeah 94 S4, the US hose has the flow regulator piece that needs to be reused, so I guess the EU model does too.

Guess that puts my car off the road until I return from my summer job next year. :/

Sent it to hoses.net.nz in Lower Hutt $290 + GST

Steering works perfectly, hose looks solid.

seems a lot but I don't think I'll have to replace it again for the life of the vehicle, also the guy was very good to deal with over the phone and finished the job quickly.
