Hi folks,

I've just bought a car with the RCD510 with BT but for some reason I can't get the audio to stream from my phone (iphone 5).

I have paired up my phone and can access my phone book, make and receive calls etc. I have also gone into the settings menu for media and selected 'allow BT Audio streaming'. However when I start playing music from my phone I get no sound (either from the phone itself or the car's speakers), also as you can see in the photo the external source of BT audio is greyed out and can't be selected.

I have read through all the various 'how to's' and the user manuals but can't find anything that seems to solve my issue.

The dealer has given me a MDI cable that plugs into the centre console but I would prefer no cables.

Anyone had a similar issue and can give some advice on what to try next?

More likely related to the BT module and what it's supports than the RCD510.  What module do you have?

Not exactly sure what module I have, but the MFD info I got was:

Pretty sure your BT module won't support it.
Loom under drivers or passenger seat. Pull polystyrene box in this will be the BT module.

Have a look if it stated 9w2 it won't support streaming

Wow I'm surprised it doesn't work. I had no idea that you require different Bluetooth setup for audio and phone. I'd be gutted!

There are 5 variations of BT modules.

Yeah it's a bit annoying not having streaming tbh.  :(

So I took out the BT module and I can't see any of those numbers Hennie.

Here's a stock photo of the same module I have on the car

Although mine has NGD 50/09 SW: 8502 HW: 015 and a different BD address

That's a 9w2.

To get Bluetooth streaming you will need to also replace the loom. Or at least add 3 wires and repin 2 wires.

Oh well, plugged into the MDI cable at least charges the damn phone

But it's a pain having to swap cables for iPhone 4/5. My cheap head unit in the mk5 was more useful than this.  ::)
