are there any 2doors in n.z?my car building skills are good but id probably end up
wrecking a reasonably good car instead of making something epic like yours.i actualy
believed yours was a genuine bora coupe till flying told me it wasnt.i need to read earlier posts haha.
on the mk2 jettas is the wheel base and front door dimensions the same as a coupe?
id like to see a photo of such a conversion if you know of any.

Can be made, you'd have to use the doors off a 2 door Golf as they are longer, no coupes in NZ...................yet.  ;D

i went quite hardcore on it.on the back i cut the quarter arch lip and trim lip off with a air hacksaw and used a slidehammer to pump them out as far as i could.then a hammer and grinder to tidy it up.the front i cut the lip off the trim but not the guard as it loses all its strength and becomes flimsy.just gave it the hammer treatment.if you cut the back lip off make sure to seal it up and spray cavity wax from the inside.iv also done this on my mk3.it gives you more room to play with as just rolling the lip up you lose at least 5-10mm of offset you could possibly have with spacing.
i used polyurethane adhesive sealer to stick the trims back on.
i dont know if you have seen either of them in the flesh but that's why my fitment looks like its rubbing.it actually duznt the rear guard arches
are just super thin probably 2-3mm max including the trim.on the jetta the rear arch fits between the rim and the tyre.so tyre choice
is critical also

Nice. Would look spot on with the front down a little more.

Bought this 1984 GTI off a guy in christchurch last year, ex vask member, still standard except the coilovers, alot of time and effort went into this car to get it to this standard.
It was purchased unseen but was worth the risk!
Just needs winding down abit then abit more fore the stance off at the end of the month..
Want to keep the look the same but would like to do some engine work, any idea's on getting the best out of a k-jet engine???
