Actually got this two months ago, but have been so flippin busy I have not posted the details, so here goes.
Was originally looking to get a 2013’ish B8 RS4, but decided on the C7 RS6 instead, got an ex demo car with 2,000kms on it.
Why the C7 RS6 over a B8 RS4?
Seats, the RS4 B8 seat seats suck compared to the RS4 B7 buckets. The C7 RS6 seat is no bucket, but it’s a better seat than the B8 RS4’s.
Power, the RS4 B8 engines lacks when its compared to the massive punch of the C7 RS6 (0>100kph in 3.9s, 11.9s quarter apparently)
Handling, although the C7 RS4 is a big car, the B8 RS4 has lost its finesse compared to the old B7 RS4
Looks, The B8 RS4 is on par to the C7 RS6, so an even match there.
Price, it was only a smaller step up from a 2013 RS4 B8 to a 2013 RS6 C7, but then they started offloading brand new pre facelift cars I managed to get this ex demo car at a somewhat sensible price.
What do I think after two months of ownership?
It’s fk’en fast! Handling is OK, quiet acceptable unless you push very hard and that’s when I wish I had the DRC equipped car as opposed to the air, but apparently they have not sold any DRC cars in NZ yet. It’s a big car and with kids getting bigger and bigger the extra backseat and boot size is welcome. Gadgets, all very nice including Radar guided cruise, lane assist plus (incl auto lane steering/centring ), 4x camera system, smarty pants full beam headlight that only partial dips upon oncoming traffic and the list goes on. Exhaust, although I like its full throttle noise, it misses the simply awesome cruise noise of the RS4 B7, but it’s a small price to pay. Overall pretty happy.
