In anticipation of the 40th anniversary of the GTI brand Volkswagen is set to release the Golf GTI Clubsport Edition in 2016.

Making its public debut at the 2015 Worthersee festival the Clubsport will feature the company?s 2,0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine and, in this application, will deliver 195 kW, 33 kW more than the standard GTI. To manage this power the Clubsport will make use of a XDS differential (as featured on the GTI Performance Pack) together with a six-speed DSG gearbox. An overboost function will reportedly provide 10 per cent additional power for short periods.

The Clubsport will be more visually aggressive than the standard GTI with a sharp edged bumper and notable black trimmings along the skirting, roof and the door mirrors. Rumours suggest the Clubsport will only be released as a three door variant and will be equipped with 18-inch wheels.

Performance stats, pricing and release dates are yet to be announced.

I have to say, as far as Mk7s go, that back end on that one looks good. Still don't like the front though.
Bought not built.
